If the calorie level was even a 100 too low for your body it would automatically go into famine mode slowing the metabolism the rate the body burns fuel to conserve fuel.This essentially shuts down fat burning and at some point an increased appetite triggered by the metabolic slowdown forced one to abandon the diet and start eating. And this can mean everything in sight causing more body fat to be piled on totally defeating the purpose of the diet.
